We are two and a half miles north of the South Ferry and two and a half miles South of the North Ferry on South Ferry Road. We are minutes away from the most secluded beaches on Eastern Long Island. Shelter Island is located between Sag Harbor, NY and Greenport, NY and must be accessed by ferry! We are situated a half mile from the two thousand + acre Mashomack Preserve. Mashomack is owned by the Nature Conservency and features maintained trails through fresh and saltwater marshes. The longest trail is eleven miles and brings you to amazing dunes. Kayaking is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing activities on the Island. You can rent or bring your own and set off from one of the many public launches. Shelter Island Kayaks is our local outfitter, they will take you on a guided tour or let you take them out on your own.

Shelter Island is considered to be one of the top ten places to ride your bike on Long Island. The slow pace of life, the slow speed limit and the fact that motor vehicle access is controlled by the ferries all lend themselves to an enjoyable ride. Pedal past the smallest town in NY, Dering Harbor, through the country club and out to Ram's Head Island.

Bird Watching is also very popular with Osprey and Piping Plovers making a triumphant return. Bring your binoculars to Mashomack and see many more woodland species.
